The Legend of Zelda

God of War creator sets Twitter on fire after calling Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom “bland”

David Jaffe believes that people have a double standard for certain video games, depending on the console they are released on.

To talk about David Jaffe is to talk about the creator and director of God of War, the first installment in the Kratos saga for PS2. He was later joined by Cory Barlog and years later, Jaffe would leave video game development. What he has not given up is his desire to play, and these days, like most of you, he is enjoying The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom for Nintendo Switch. Of course, his first opinions about the title caused a real fire on Twitter...

With his own screenshot of the game during the early stages of the adventure, Jaffe wanted to make it clear that “a great game is a great game,” beyond the production values and technical level, but the controversy stuck with him when he said that people and critics do not value all video games equally, which he found “staggering.”

Jaffe also wanted to emphasize that for him, gameplay comes first in the vast majority of cases, but he has a very strong opinion about Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom when it comes to its graphics: “This game is pretty bland and old looking,” he explains, noting that we are talking about a section that seems to matter a lot to people, and that’s why he thought it was “worth discussing.
