Godzilla is coming back to TV for ‘Monarch’ Season 2 and more Monsterverse spinoffs

Apple TV+ has confirmed a second season of ‘Monarch: Legacy of Monsters’, alongside new series centered around other Monsterverse kaijus

It’s taken Apple TV+ three months of suspense for them to speak about the future of one of his most successful recent series, which is none other than ‘Monarch: Legacy of Monsters’, an expansion of the Monsterverse with Godzilla and Kong in front. And luckily for its fans, the series based on this same kaiju universe will receive, at least, a second season after the promising final events of its last episode. But it’s not going to be the only one, since it has been confirmed that Apple TV+ will work on a new spinoff in the same universe..

The cinematic Monsterverse expands on Apple TV+

‘Monarch: Legacy of Monsters’ starts after the events of ‘Godzilla’ from 2014, the first film in the Monsterverse led by Godzilla and Kong and that recently premiered ‘Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire’. A series that presents us with the origins of the Monarch organization through the history of Lee Shaw (performed by both Kurt Russell and his son, Wyatt Russell, in the present and the past, respectively), an American soldier who was investigating the titans during the 50s with Keiko and Bill Randa and that after the events of ‘Godzilla’ teams up with Cate and Kentaro.

Of course, beyond confirming a second season, for the moment no details of the new episodes or where the plot will go have emerged, although the end of season one gives us some clues, with our protagonists reaching the Apex facilities in Skull Island, with a fleeting but implacable appearance of Kong himself.

Along with season two of ‘Monarch: Legacy of Monsters’ - still without a release date -, Apple TV+ has also announced that it will expand the Monsterverse with a new spin-off, although at the moment the plots or protagonists that these new series based on kaijus will present to us are unknown, as well as their possible release window on the Apple platform.
