Update:

While the most acclaimed anime series continue their stories and bask in the limelight every time they appear with something new, others that go largely unnoticed by the public, such as Netflix’s Pantheon, wait for their chance in the shadows. And halfway between the two, as it is not exactly unknown, but not particularly popular either, we have others such as Death Parade, a single-season thriller that has received very positive reviews.

Death Parade can be watched on Crunchyroll. It has 12 episodes and a self-contained ending, making it perfect for watching in one sitting. It is the work of Japanese director Yuzuru Tachikawa (Detective Conan: Black Iron Submarine), premiered in 2015, and has a highly engaging storyline. It is set in a world where the souls of the dead end up in a series of bars, whose bartenders are something like judges, who organize a game of death that decides whether those souls achieve reincarnation or are condemned to oblivion in the void.
