Green Lantern joins the DCU big screen as Aaron Pierre boards ‘Man of Tomorrow’
The move signals a tighter narrative bridge between Man of Tomorrow and the wider DC television slate.

In a move that highlights the seamless integration between television and film, Aaron Pierre has officially joined the cast of ‘Man of Tomorrow,’ the highly anticipated sequel to James Gunn’s 2025 Superman. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Pierre will reprise his role as Green Lantern John Stewart, as the character is set to debut in the HBO original series ‘Lanterns’ later this year.
A Cosmic Team-Up Against Brainiac
The sequel’s plot is already generating buzz, as it features a rare and reluctant partnership between David Corenswet’s Superman and Nicholas Hoult’s Lex Luthor. The two rivals must put aside their differences to face the intergalactic threat of Brainiac, played by German actor Lars Eidinger. Given Brainiac’s alien origins and technological might, the inclusion of a Green Lantern makes perfect tonal sense for an escalation of this scale.
Production for ‘Man of Tomorrow’ is scheduled to begin on April 17 in Atlanta, Georgia. The film will see the return of several familiar faces from the first movie, including Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane and Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen. Other returning heroes like Hawkgirl (Isabela Merced) and The Engineer (María Gabriela de Faría) will also be part of the roster. The movie is expected to release on July 9, 2027.

Meanwhile ‘Lanterns’ still has to show its green

A few weeks ago, HBO presented the first trailer of ‘Lanterns,’ and for the moment, has little to do with Green Lantern, betting everything on a tone halfway between True Detective and Yellowstone. We only get a couple of fleeting shots of the Green Lanterns’ ring or costume. So, it should be expected that by the end of the season, we can get a better look at John Stewart donning the legendary suit.
