GTA Online gets major new heist and free next-gen upgrades as GTA VI release nears
Rockstar announces The Kortz Center Heist and free upgrades for console and PC players.

The release of Grand Theft Auto VI is getting closer and closer—and with no delays on the horizon—we’re about to get our hands on one of the most anticipated titles of the decade. However, this doesn’t mean the end for its predecessor, Grand Theft Auto V, as Rockstar Games has announced that the hit GTA Online will receive a new update featuring a new heist, as well as a series of improvements to “experience the best versions.”
Heist at The Kortz Center
Starting in July of this year, GTA Online will introduce The Kortz Center Heist, which will let us rob the museum located in the hills of Pacific Bluffs and make off with a piece from its prestigious gallery. To pull off this new heist, we’ll need to set up the Art Studio in our mansion, research the piece we’re going to steal right at the Kortz Center, and then carry out this “multi-stage heist.”
To help you prepare for this heist, Rockstar has already set up events where you can earn GTA$ so you’ll have enough money for your mansion (and maybe even complete the missions featuring Michael de Santa’s return from last year), as well as some discounts for GTA+ members.
Updates on the Way
If you were one of those players who, after buying the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions, decided not to buy the game again for PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X|S, Rockstar has something special for you, too. Starting tomorrow, July 18, players who own the previous-generation versions will be able to play the latest version on their current-generation consoles. This will allow those who were left behind to “experience the best versions of GTAV” at no extra cost and enjoy the technical improvements, as well as carry over their progress in both Story Mode and GTA Online, and take advantage of the enhancements included with this edition.

PC players will also be able to upgrade their version from Legacy to Enchanted completely free of charge. These players will also receive exclusive enhancements such as “ray-traced ambient occlusion and global illumination.”
