GTA Online San Andreas Mercenaries arrives today for free with this load of new features
Rockstar Games today launches the next expansion to GTA V’s popular multiplayer mode with new missions, upgrades, vehicles, weapons and more.
San Andreas Mercenaries, the new free expansion for GTA Online, the popular multiplayer mode of GTA V, launches today, June 13th, on PC, PS4, Xbox One, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. It comes with a handful of new features, including new missions, Los Santos Angels operations, vehicles, weapons, accessories and more, as well as enhancements to the GTA Online experience. This has been shared by Rockstar Games, detailing all this new content along with the trailer of the expansion that you can see on the lines below.
GTA Online and its new expansion San Andreas Mercenaries
The new expansion of GTA Online, San Andreas Mercenaries, puts us squarely in the spheres of the Angels in order to dismantle the operations of Merryweather in Project Overthrow, a series of new missions available through the Mammoth Avenger, your new air base of operations. Although you can also participate in private smuggling activities with Charlie and LSA. And is that GTA Online will celebrate its tenth anniversary with a lot of new features this summer and fall, including a new Adversary mode in Cayo Perico, more vehicles, Free mode events and more.
Along with the new free expansion, GTA Online also receives a handful of new features demanded by the community, such as a new Career tab that allows PS5 and Xbox Series X|S players to easily track their criminal progress. In addition, improvements are added to the hangars, the ability to store and customize the Avenger in them; new accessory and weather options in the creator; a faster boss registration process; the purchase of body armor without level requirements; or the ability to reclaim all destroyed vehicles at once, among many other new features of quality improvements to the GTA Online experience.
Let’s take a look at the major new features in terms of new content and missions available in GTA Online starting today, June 13, 2023:
Initially, Project Overthrow consists of six new contact missions in which up to 4 players join Charlie Reed, a former collaborator in previous strikes, to destabilize Merryweather’s operations. The available missions are: Reporting for Duty, Falling In, On Parade, Unusual Contention, Unconventional Warfare, and Shock and Awe. In addition, three new Los Santos Angels operations arrive, Free Mode missions, including: Direct Action, Surgical Strike, and Whistleblower. New Ground Missions are also added to the game, such as Procuring and Selling Contraband.
Other new content coming to GTA Online includes five new RC Time Trial tracks, a new tactical submachine gun, new clothing and hairstyles, and the following vehicles:

Finally, San Andreas Mercenaries adds a number of quality of life improvements for GTA Online as the new Trajectory Progress menu on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, with the ability to earn clothes, GTA$ and vehicles with each new level, plus the ability to claim destroyed vehicles Mors Mutual Insurance, new features in the creator as accessories, weather options and many other things like:
- Custom description tags for garages to help quickly locate your favorite rides when calling the Mechanic.
- The Willard Eudora and Classique Broadway will be eligible for Taxi Work when using Taxi Liveries.
- Level requirements will be removed when purchasing armor.
- Body Armor will be restocked after Quick Restarting a mission, matching the same Body Armor levels as when first entering the lobby.
- Migrating a profile to PlayStation 5 or Xbox X Series X|S will no longer delete the previous generation profile.
- Alternative sprint control (hold to sprint) in the Settings Menu.
- Additional filters for Race types when browsing the Jobs Menu.
- Players will be able to select a name for their Acid product (via the Interaction Menu) to receive a 5% sell bonus.
- Payouts on many Collectibles and Events — such as Buried Stashes and Treasure Chests — will be increased. We are also correcting payouts for Gerald’s Last Play and A Superyacht Life upwards by 25%.
