GTA Online’s new zombie mode is a big hit with the community

GTA Online’s newest LTM shoots straight to the head.

Despite being the Spooky season, all signs indicate that GTA Online is still alive and kicking, and its latest mode has brought out an impressive number of zombie-killing players. On October 10, Rockstar Game released a limited-time zombie mode called Ludendorff Cemetery Survival Mode, which takes the virtual residents of Los Santos to North Yankton, where the story of Grand Theft Auto V begins, to engage in one of the most popular activities in video games: killing zombies.

This survival mode came with a community challenge to kill 80 million zombies, which would unlock “special gifts” such as a spooky Orange Glow Skeleton Onesie and Red Hooded Skull Mask. However, more than 400,000 players have already logged in, completely smashing the original goal within the first 24 hours.

Rockstar announced through its social media that the goal has been increased to 800 million zombies, and now among the gifts for players will be added the Purple Glow and Green Glow Skeleton Onesies. For now, the number of zombies eliminated is unknown, but last October 13, the company’s official account announced that they were at “over 430 million zombies dispatched in the North Yankton Nightmare Community Challenge!”

It is worth noting that, according to GTA Online statistics, this game mode achieved a 270% increase over one of the most recent limited time modes, Assault on ATT-16 mode, during the same time period.

It will be interesting to see if Rockstar decides to make this temporary mode part of the rotation of different modes and updates that GTA Online will receive.
