Guillermo del Toro’s ‘Frankenstein’ shows off its first official image
The Mary Shelley horror classic is coming back to life through the mind of Guillermo del Toro
One of the most popular horror and science fiction novels in history is ‘Frankenstein’ by English author Mary Shelley, a work that has been adapted on multiple occasions and versions over the years, and this 2025 it will be the turn of the adaptation of Guillermo del Toro in Netflix. It is undoubtedly one of the most anticipated ‘Frankenstein’ of all time, and the director’s passion for horror is well known, and now it is his turn to adapt one of his favorite stories.
Actor Oscar Isaac will play doctor Victor Frankenstein, while Jacob Elordi will be the creature. A doctor who alters the natural order by converting dead tissue into a new being, and as Vanity Fair highlights, much of the film takes place among the remains of what were once great structures with Guillermo del Toro highlighting that “Gothic Romanticism was born in part from the fascination with ruins. Sometimes they are more beautiful than the entire building because it is the clash of creation and destruction.”
The return of a horror classic
The first image of Guillermo del Toro’s ‘Frankenstein’ shows us the laboratory of Dr. Victor Frankenstein, who does not stop experimenting with all types of bodies in search of creating a creature capable of surpassing natural laws and returning to life from among the death. An image in which terror and death can be seen, with a multitude of dismembered bodies.
