Gunnar x Zenless Zone Zero Soldier 11: Protect your eyes and cosplay? You’ve got it all figured out

It’s no surprise at all that Gunnar is continuing down the path of collaborations with video game franchises. Over the years, we’ve seen how franchises like Overwatch, Fallout, and even Cyberpunk have successfully adapted to the brand’s signature style without being “overloaded” with motifs that make the collaboration too obvious—but I have to say that the ones that really take the cake so far for looking like they were pulled straight out of the game are the Zenless Zone Zero designs.

Before diving into some of the key features of these glasses, I think the main reason they might become one of my favorites—and I’m almost certain they’ll be a hit with cosplayers—is that they’re a 1:1 replica of the same model worn by Soldier 11, who was chosen to star in the collaboration.

Protect your eyes, cosplay, and feel like you’re inside the game: an all-in-one pair of glasses

The lenses of the Zenless Zone Zero Soldier 11 are amber-colored, which is very useful if you want to reduce glare from screens and—why not?—from natural sunlight as well. Although this effect might be considered similar to what sunglasses provide, Gunnar’s technology allows you to move seamlessly from indoors to direct sunlight without feeling that anything is shining more brightly in either setting.

Even though I spend most of my day in front of screens, unlike what traditional screen protectors can offer, eye strain was significantly reduced—especially, once again, because the tint on this screen protector isn’t limited to electronic devices, so you won’t have that “whiter whites” effect when you go out to do other kinds of outdoor activities.

On the other hand, although the design may seem a bit bulky (especially since they basically cover the entire area around the eyes, starting just below the eyebrows), they don’t feel heavy or uncomfortable to wear; one detail I loved is that the outer edges of the glasses also feature the same amber finish, so they don’t obstruct your vision from those angles that might otherwise seem difficult.

One of the best parts that fans—and cosplayers—are sure to love is that this frame feels really good. It feels like a product you don’t have to handle with kid gloves or be overly careful with, and at the same time, if you decide to cosplay as the character, it’ll fit perfectly right away, since the design has been reproduced flawlessly.

As I mentioned earlier, I found these glasses to be especially comfortable for my daily routine—they’re lightweight, fit my face right away, and since I use two monitors, the fact that the sides aren’t “blocked off” works perfectly for me. Using screens and colors—mostly white—can significantly affect even our perception of time after a few hours, precisely because of the amount of brightness we’re exposed to. While we know it’s possible to adjust these colors individually in apps or even on the monitors themselves, it becomes a problem when we switch to other types of tasks.

The amber (or yellow, like the ones worn by the character) lenses are designed for long sessions under bright monitor lights, but as I mentioned earlier, they also served as an alternative to sunglasses, which, personally, I’ve never felt were right for me because they tend to be too dark.

Now, if you’re on the other side of the spectrum and want to show them off wherever you go—especially during the day—they’re also available in a different tint: blue, which makes them a perfect choice for sunny days. Of course, they won’t look quite as much like the ones worn by the DPS in Zenless Zone Zero, but the delicate details on the sides will let the world know where they’re from.
