Hackers leak Rockstar Games data ahead of deadline, but breach reportedly limited to GTA Online content
Rockstar says the exposed material is non-material and unrelated to players, GTA VI, or core infrastructure.
A group of hackers claims to have stolen sensitive information related to Rockstar Games. Although they set April 14 as the deadline for their demands to be met, the group has already begun releasing some of the information before that deadline has passed.
The hacker group, known as ShinyHunters, reportedly stole the information using an AI-based data analysis tool called Anodot, with which they managed to breach Rockstar’s Snowflake-based data warehouse, according to a report by The CyberSec Guru this weekend. The deadline set by the group—which successfully hacked Ticketmaster’s servers a couple of years ago—expires tomorrow, April 14.
“Your Snowflake instances were compromised thanks to Anodot.com. Pay or leak,” wrote ShinyHunters. “This is a final warning to reach out by 14 Apr 2026 before we leak along with several annoying (digital) problems that’ll come your way. Make the right decision. Don’t be the next headline.”
Despite the threats, the group has already begun leaking information. So far, the leaked data appears to be related solely to GTA Online and Red Dead Online, with no evidence of leaks involving users’ personal data or information related to Grand Theft Auto VI.
This data breach poses no risk, says Rockstar Games
Meanwhile, Rockstar Games confirmed in a statement that it is aware of the data breach, but assured users that it poses no risk. “We can confirm that a limited amount of non-material company information was accessed in connection with a third-party data breach. This incident has no impact on our organization or our players.” With this, the company maintains that the compromised information is limited and does not affect either its operational infrastructure or the players’ experience.
