Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions will bring the king of sports back to Hogwarts
Warner Bros. Games has just made a surprise reveal of Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions, a new game centered around the magical sport that was missing from Hogwarts Legacy.
J.K.Rowling’s universe is expanding once again through video games with a new title focused on the king of sports in Hogwarts: Quidditch. Harry Potter Quidditch Champions was just announced, confirming its existence as “a high-paced competitive multiplayer video game.” Here is everything we know so far.
First details of Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions
As we said, Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions aims to be a competitive multiplayer game with “a standalone Quidditch experience”. The game will allow players to take part in the iconic Wizarding World sport, as well as “other broomstick adventures alongside friends in a competitive, multiplayer setting”. Our first look comes in the form of a teaser, which you can see below:
At the moment the studio is aiming to launch on PC and consoles yet to be determined. As they emphasize in the official FAQ, the title has been in development by Unbroken Studios “for several years.” The studio is based in Los Angeles and has 93 employees. So far they were working with Rocksteady Studios on Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, which recently has moved its release date to 2024.
Do you want to play it? The studio has opened signups to participate in limited playtests. You can choose to do so by registering through this link, although completing the registration does not guarantee access. The team has chosen a cartoonish look as its art style, suggesting that it will adapt to as many platforms as possible.
The news appears a few weeks after the release of Hogwarts Legacy, where the absence of Quidditch was a contentious issue as it was not confirmed until almost having the game in stores. The stadium is present in the game, as are the flying broomsticks, but Avalanche ruled out its addition for reasons that have not been released to the public.
