Hayao Miyazaki’s ‘The Boy and the Heron’ has a release date on MAX

After its great success at the end of last year, the latest work by master Hayao Miyazaki will soon be available on the MAX streaming service.

‘The Boy and the Heron’ became one of the most important anime hits of recent years. In addition to its box office success and the records it set in the United States, the film won the award for Best Animated Feature at the recent Academy Awards. And today we finally know when it will be available for streaming.

When is ‘The Boy and the Heron’ coming to streaming?

Back in March, Warner Bros. Discovery had already taken exclusive streaming rights, but without giving a premiere window for Studio Ghibli’s latest on its service. Today, an announcement on social media revealed that ‘The Boy and the Heron’ will debut exclusively on MAX on September 6.

This will be the first time the movie will arrive on a streaming service. It is worth remembering that for the rest of the world, the movie will arrive to streaming via Netflix sometime in late 2024.

Hayao Miyazaki shows his talent at the age of 82

The review of ‘The Boy and the Heron’ by our colleagues in Spain emphasizes that it is “a deep story full of reflection, but it is not necessary to understand it to enjoy it, and the main objective of the film is to make us feel it, to become part of it, to be able to touch our deepest ‘I’, and this is where Hayao Miyazaki hits the nail on the head. The aftertaste of the work is enormous, days go by and we continue to think about it, grateful for the enormous gift that the great master of Japanese animation has once again left us”.
