HBO’s Harry Potter series secures Hans Zimmer for its original score
The project aims to honor the films’ musical legacy while exploring the books in greater depth.

HBO has confirmed that Academy Award winner Hans Zimmer, alongside his collective Bleeding Fingers Music, has been tapped to compose the score for the highly anticipated Harry Potter television series.
A new (musical) era for Hogwarts and beyond
Zimmer is no stranger to taking on massive franchises, having previously defined the sounds of ‘The Dark Knight,’ ‘Gladiator,’ and ‘Dune’. “The musical legacy of ‘Harry Potter’ is a touch point for composers everywhere and we are humbled to join such a remarkable team on a project of this magnitude,” said Zimmer and Bleeding Fingers Music composers Kara Talve and Anže Rozman. “The responsibility is something that myself, Kara Talve and Anže Rozman do not take lightly. Magic is all around us, often just beyond reach, but as in the world of Harry Potter, you simply must look for it. With this score we hope to bring audiences that little bit closer to it whilst honoring what has come before.”

While the original films benefited from the whimsical and legendary themes of John Williams, Patrick Doyle, Nicholas Hooper, and Alexandre Desplat, this new series looks to explore the books’ deeper details.
The scope of the New Wizarding World
The new HBO series is set to launch in 2027 and features a cast of young talent stepping into beloved roles. Dominic McLaughlin will star alongside Arabella Stanton as Hermione and Alastair Stout as Ron, forming the franchise’s new core trio. Other key young actors include Lox Pratt (Draco Malfoy), Alessia Leoni (Parvati Patil), Leo Earley (Seamus Finnigan), Rory Wilmot (Neville Longbottom), and Amos Kitson (Dudley Dursley).
