HBO’s ‘The Last of Us’ had to give extra security to the actress playing Abby in Season 2

Isabela Merced revealed that Kaitlyn Dever needed extra security while filming Season 2 of ‘The Last of Us’ because of the character she’s playing.

It’s not worth remembering the harassment suffered by Laura Bailey, who voiced Abby, after the release of The Last of Us Part II, as it would only be giving more attention to the people who took it out on the actress for something a fictional character does. Unfortunately, we did not expect that episode to be repeated, this time targeting Kaitlyn Dever, who will be Ellie’s antagonist in the second season of ‘The Last of Us’ in MAX.

The hatred for Abby comes to the television series

Dever had to endure some type of harassment during the filming of the series, as confirmed by her co-star, Isabela Merced, who will play Dina. “There are people who actually genuinely hate Abby, who is not a real person,” said the actress in the Happy Sad Confused podcast. “Just a reminder. Not a real person. So Kaitlyn had to be extra-secured by security when it came to the filming of this.”

We will not reveal the reason for the hatred of Abby because, after all, it is likely that someone has not played the game and is following the series. Even so, and although it is completely legal to feel animosity towards a fictional character, it still is totally absurd to take it upon the people who simply lend their voice or their acting skills to embody said character.

Meanwhile, we wait for the premiere of the second season of ‘The Last of Us’, which was delayed to 2025 due to the actors’ and scriptwriters’ strike that affected a good handful of productions. As Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann confirmed, the series will need more than a single season to tell the entire story of ‘The Last of Us Part II’.
