Hell is Us won’t help players explore: “follow your own instincts”
Update:

Hell is Us is a science fiction action-adventure game where players will be exploring, fighting and investigating in a dark post-apocalyptic world throughout its story. This world has been destroyed by a civil war, and is now overrun by a mysterious calamity.

The player will be sent there to investigate what happened, and will encounter many dangers, in their search for the truth. The game will feature, as the devs say “a deep and satisfying combat system”, as well as some survival sides and a big part of it, will be the exploration, where they will not hold the players’ hand.

No Quest Markers, No Mini-Maps, Just Pure Exploration

As revealed in a gameplay showed in the annual Nacon Connect, the players will need to pay close attention to their surroundings, dialogues and clues to advance on their investigation and follow the story. But the unique perspective of this will be that the game will not feature a mini-map, quest markers or paths to follow.

Instead of that, they will have to be curious, follow their instincts and deduct solutions by themselves. It’s worth mentioning that this will be a semi-open world.

There won’t be a quest journal either to tell players what they need, but as can be seen in the video, there will be a diagram to help follow through the investigations in one of the devices that the main character will be carrying. It will also feature a log of the people and information they’ve gathered so far.

It also has an exploration tab, and a drone tab, but it wasn’t revealed what they do, so we’ll probably have to wait for the game’s launch to see if there’s a system to remind players where they left off anywhere and it the drone does something else besides following the main character around. Hell is Us will launch for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation5, and PC on September 4th.
