Hellblade 2 will finally please its fans with a physical edition for PS5 and Xbox Series
Ninja Theory’s acclaimed title launched in 2024 in digital format only.
After launching digitally in 2024, Hellblade 2 is finally getting a physical edition for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. The ESRB rating board has listed a new version of the game, published by Limited Run Games, practically confirming its upcoming disc release.
Additionally, another listing suggests that the original Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice will also receive a physical edition for Nintendo Switch.
Who is Limited Run Games?
Limited Run Games specializes in physical releases for titles that were previously digital-only. While the company primarily focuses on indie and retro games, it occasionally handles big-budget titles, as seen with Hellblade 2.
Given the game’s ambitious production under Ninja Theory and Xbox Game Studios, fans have eagerly awaited a disc version, making this announcement a major win.
Breaking Xbox’s first-party trend?
This move could mark a significant shift in Microsoft’s strategy. If Hellblade 2 launches physically on PS5, it would be the first Xbox first-party title to do so—though Limited Run Games is handling distribution, not Microsoft directly.
With Gears of War: Reloaded still unconfirmed, Hellblade 2 could set a precedent for future Xbox titles appearing in physical format on PlayStation.
Official announcement coming soon?
Microsoft has yet to officially confirm the physical release, but sources suggest an announcement is imminent. Could the disc edition coincide with the game’s PS5 launch? Fans won’t have to wait long to find out.
