Helldivers 2 devs are now going back to their ‘original plan’ after stabilizing servers
With the server issues seemingly fixed, the devs at Arrowhead are going back to their original update plans for Helldivers 2.
It’s been a rough, yet extremely successful few weeks for Helldivers 2. A complete from the moment of its launch, the co-op shooter live service game from Arrowhead Game Studios has been bogged down by server issues caused by the massive amount of players trying to join the action. But now that the team has had a full weekend without issues (and a much larger concurrent player capacity), they can turn their focus back onto new content for the game.
This according to the CEO of the studio, Johan Pilestedt, who took to Twitter/X to celebrate the developers’ achievement. After a couple of weekends of issues, the servers handled all of the problems and have become stabilized. “I’m really happy and proud of the Arrowhead team for an amazing achievement,” he said. “The servers handled all Helldivers 2 players this weekend without problem. Now we have time to focus on improvements to the title and resume our original plan. Many exciting things upcoming!”
What’s next for Helldivers 2?
So what exactly is this “original plan” Pilestedt mentioned? As of right now there are no details confirmed about what else is coming to the game, but it’d be safe to assume that he means the team will be able to continue working on upcoming content for the game. As it is a live-service title (albeit a very different one from what the industry has accustomed players to), new features, mechanics, and content is meant to arrive to the game after launch.
A content roadmap hasn’t been revealed yet, but right before launch we got a tease for pilotable mechs coming to the game. Other possible contents are the arrival of a third enemy faction, which was present in the previous game. It’s possible more vehicles and new weapons could make their way into the game as well.
Helldivers 2 is currently available on PlayStation 5 and Steam.
