Helldivers 2 is now the best selling game in the USA PS Store, as its growth continues to surpass Fortnite, Call of Duty, and Grand Theft Auto.

Mark down another win for LIBERTY. Helldivers 2 has just managed to surpass every other game on the PlayStation Store, becoming the bestselling title in the USA on February 18, 2024, barely two weeks after its release.

As reported by @TheRealJTV4K60 on Twitter/X, the Arrowhead Game Studios title was shown as the leader of the Top 10 games of the United States on the PS Store, standing tall above Call of Duty, Fortnite, and Grand Theft Auto V, long believed to be immovable pillars of the Games-as-a-Service category that have dominated the industry during the past few years. While no specific numbers have been revealed, there are currently enough players to have filled the servers and for the devs to scramble trying to increase their capacity.

Arrowhead announced that their current player limit on the servers is of 450,000 concurrent players, but that they will keep working to increase that cap and allow anyone interested in spreading managed democracy throughout the galaxy to join the Helldivers and do their part on the war.

A massive success for Arrowhead, Sony, and Liberty

If you are one of the many players fascinated by the meteoric rise of Helldivers 2, you might need to wait a little bit to actually get into the game. The servers have been consistently fulled to capacity over the weekend, with many would-be liberators being presented with an error message that won’t allow them to jump into the game.

This is a common issue with almost every popular online game of recent years, but it still shows how unexpected the success of the game has been for everyone involved. For now we’ll have to wait and see how the situation develops, but so far the devs have been extremely transparent about all of their issues and the steps they’re taking to fix them.
