Here’s why ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ won’t feature many scenes of Daredevil and Kingpin together

Every confrontation between the two has to be special and feel like it’s their last, says Charlie Cox.

Daredevil Born Again

During the first three seasons of ‘Daredevil’ on Netflix (now available on Disney+), there were not many encounters between the Man Without Fear and Wilson Fisk, a trend that will continue in ‘Daredevil: Born Again.’ Although this aims to be a soft reboot in which they will keep many elements of the previous series, but there will be new features, among them will not be the presence of a greater number of face-to-face between the hero and his antagonist, Charlie Cox (Matt Murdock/Daredevil) has explained why, and it is perfectly logical.

“With these characters, you have to always feel like, were they to cross paths, they would fight to the death,” begins to explain Cox, during an interview at New York Comic Con with Collider, “it would be hugely explosive. So, you have to, in the writing of a show, in the construction of it, you have to limit the amount of time they can be together or you have to give them real reason for them not to be together.”

In this way, both “stay out of each other’s lane,” says the actor, although “we do spend time in the same room together at times in the show.

‘Daredevil: Born Again’ returns with familiar cast

Joining Cox and D’Onofrio in their respective roles are Deborah Ann Woll (Karen Paige), Elden Henson (Foggy Nelson), Wilson Bethel (Bullseye), and John Bernthal (Frank Castle/Punisher). Despite the show’s title, it is unlikely to be based on the 1980s comic book by Frank Miller and Dave Mazzuchelli that is considered the character’s magnum opus. In that story, the Kingpin pushed Daredevil to the limit by destroying the life of the character, Matt Murdock, through Karen Paige, who became a heroin-addicted adult film actress.

Daredevil: Born Again” will premiere on Disney+ on March 4, 2025.
