Hi-Fi Rush is releasing on PS5 next month

Tango Gameworks has confirmed that Hi-Fi Rush, their hit rhythm-based action game from 2023, is making the jump from Xbox to PS5 next month.

hi fi rush

After Phil Spencer revealed that some Xbox exclusives would make the jump to other consoles, we didn’t have to wait long for the news to come to us. After the latest Nintendo Direct revealed Pentiment and Grounded were launching on the Nintendo Switch, it was announced that Hi-Fi Rush would be making the jump to PlayStation 5.

As reported by GameInformer, the Tango Gameworks’ title from last year will be joining the studio’s previous releases on Sony’s latest console. Hi-Fi Rush is a departure from what the studio is mostly known for, as since its creation the Japanese company led by Shinji Mikami had been focused on creating horror (or horror-adjacent) titles, with great success. That’s why their latest title was a surprise, what with it being a brightly-colored rhythm-action beat-em up with an upbeat story and lots of humor.

The announcement was made through a now-removed video on YouTube, which was seemingly uploaded by accident. However, media started to report on it almost immediately, so now we know that the title will be arriving on PS5 on March 18.

Four Xbox exclusives are jumping to other consoles

With this, we now know three of the four titles that are supposed to free themselves from exclusivity in order to be available for a larger audience. This information was revealed during a special presentation of the Xbox Podcast, in which Spencer and the other heads of Xbox and Microsoft Gaming showcased what they were calling “the future of Xbox”: a new business model that will see the company expanding their reach beyond just their platform, while also maintaining the Xbox ecosystem alive.

What could be the last game to make the jump in this first wave of exclusives? All signs point to Sea of Thieves sailing for PS5 and Nintendo Switch, but until we get an official announcement there is no way to know for sure.
