Avalanche Software

Hogwarts Legacy will receive free new features this summer, what can we expect from the update?

Warner Bros. Avalanche is not “ready” to reveal what the new content will be, but the studio wants to show its appreciation to players.

Update:
Hogwarts Legacy

The magic has not gone away. Following the release of the Nintendo Switch version of Hogwarts Legacy. Warner Bros. Avalanche is preparing a new update that will be released on all platforms this summer. The game set in the wizarding world of Harry Potter was the best-selling game of 2023 - over 22 million copies sold - but to date, it has not been extended with any DLC or expansion. What is known is that the PS4 and PS5 exclusive content will cease to be exclusive from now on, but what new features will be included, and of what nature?

Avalanche Community Manager Chandler Wood had this to say on Twitter/X: “We are thrilled that you are all excited for the free update to Hogwarts Legacy this summer. We love seeing all the guesses and hopes for what will be part of this update, and while we are not ready to talk about it yet, I do want to set some expectations for what we are working on,” he wrote. “Our original wording of ‘additional updates and features for the game’ was very intentional. This update is a small way of us showing appreciation to our players for the amazing reception to the game.”

No major expansion is expected for Hogwarts Legacy

Wood didn’t mention any specific content, but his words suggest that the update will focus on adding some new feature. It remains to be seen if any quests or story arcs will be introduced, but no one should expect a major expansion, especially if it’s free downloadable content. At the time, the developer confirmed that it had no plans to develop DLC or expansions, but in any case, we will have to wait to know the specific details.

Hogwarts Legacy is available for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Nintendo Switch and PC. The title puts players in the shoes of a fifth-year Hogwarts student who must confront an evil wizard and the hosts of Ranrok, a goblin determined to see his Machiavellian plans through to the end while exploring the magical world.

Hogwarts Legacy 2 is believed to be in development. In any case, Warner Bros. Games has recently indicated that it is shifting its strategy to games-as-a-service.
