Honor among thieves, Silksong has already been cracked, but pirates are urging each other to buy instead

There’s no denying the huge impact Hollow Knight: Silksong has had in just 24 hours. This highly anticipated game crashed major digital stores and reached a peak of 535,213 concurrent players on Steam upon its release. Along with this huge success, a very unusual movement has emerged, with pirates asking people to buy the game instead of downloading it illegally.
On Reddit, in the Piracy section, things seem to be out of the ordinary. They start by mentioning how impressed they are with how quickly the PC version of the game was cracked. It is worth mentioning that Team Cherry, the game’s developers, released a DRM-free version, making it easier to create a pirated copy. However, the reactions reflect support for the small Australian team in light of the game’s quality and cost.
The reward for doing things right
Beyond the long wait, it’s worth remembering that Team Cherry announced the game six years ago. It seems that everything surrounding the game, from its $20 price tag to the fact that Kickstarter backers of the original game received Silksong for free, is enough to show great respect for the studio. The thread is full of comments such as “It’s a 3-4 person team that has done right by their fans at every turn,” said No-Shape6053, or “Support the devs if you can, they deserve it,” added iTzNowbie, or “Hey the game is pretty cheap. This one, we should not pirate,” said Sythrin.
And although, of course, not all comments are so positive and full of love and affection, it is surprising that the community shows this kind of support.
