HONOR leads global growth in a historic 2025 for mobile telephony
The Asian brand is positioned as the fastest growing, overcoming the challenges of a highly competitive market.
2025 will be remembered as the year of the great recovery for the smartphone industry. According to the latest report from analysis firm Omdia, the global market grew by 2%, reaching 1.245 billion units shipped, its highest level since 2021. In this scenario of recovery, HONOR has achieved a remarkable feat: closing the year with 11% growth, positioning itself as the number one manufacturer in terms of expansion among the world’s top ten sellers, even surpassing Samsung and Apple.
This growth is due to an aggressive geographic expansion strategy and a focus on high-value products. Unlike other competitors who suffered in the lower-end segments, HONOR was able to capitalize on demand in key markets, achieving record-breaking shipments even under economic pressure.
How does HONOR’s performance compare to Apple and Samsung?
To understand the magnitude of HONOR’s achievement, it is necessary to look at its competitors. Apple maintained 7% growth. For its part, Samsung, after three years of declines, also grew 7% due to demand for its Galaxy S and Z series and mid-range models.
However, in terms of percentage growth rate, HONOR outperformed both giants. While Apple and Samsung grew by 7% annually, HONOR’s 11% jump has surprised everyone.
It is worth noting the decline of brands such as TRANSSION, down 8%, OPPO, down 3%, and Xiaomi, down 2%.
What factors set the leading brands in the premium segment apart?
According to IDC data, HONOR led international growth in premium devices, especially in smartphones priced above $300 and mid-to-high-end tablets. This is a market where Apple and Samsung have historically dominated.
What can we expect from the technology battle in 2026?
Despite the optimism, Omdia warns that 2026 will be a year of “headwinds.” The rising cost of critical components such as DRAM and NAND memory will force manufacturers to become more efficient. In this context, the brands that ended 2025 with the most momentum now face the future with a more resilient structure.
