House of the Dragon begins production on the second season of the series and confirms the return of key characters
HBO confirms the start of production on the second season in the UK and the return of key characters.
HBO Max has some great news for Westeros fans. House of the Dragon has already begun production on its second season. Leavesden Studios in the United Kingdom is the chosen setting for the start of the events that will follow the epic finale of the first season. The swords are out for the assault on the Iron Throne.
“‘House of Dragon’ is back,” begins Ryan Condal in press release, showrunner and co-creator of the adaptation. “We are thrilled to be shooting again with members of our original family as well as new talents on both sides of the camera. All your favorite characters will soon be conspiring at the council tables, marching with their armies, and riding their dragons into battle. We can’t wait to share what we have in store.”
Who is returning for the second season of House of the Dragon?
The production company has confirmed the return of some of the first season’s cast, led by heavyweights such as Olivia Cooke (Alicent Hightower), Emma D’Arcy (Rhaenyra Targaryen) and Matt Smith (Daemon Targaryen), who will be joined by Eve Best (Rhaenys Targaryen), Steve Toussaint (Lord Corlys Velaryon), Fabien Frankel (Sir Criston Cole), Tom Glynn-Carney (Aegon II Targaryen), Ewan Mitchell (Aemond Targaryen), Rhys Ifans (Otto Hightower) and Sonoya Mizuno (Mysaria).
On the other hand, the additional cast will once again include Harry Collett (Jacaerys Velaryon), Phoebe Campbell (Rhaena Targaryen), Bethany Antonia (Baela Targaryen), Phia Saban (Helaena Targaryen), Matthew Needham (Larys Strong) and Jefferson Hall (Tyland Lannister), among others not yet mentioned.
In the production, Ryan Condal will have the hand of George R.R. Martin, author of Fire and Blood, the work that adapts the series, who will take the role of co-creator and executive producer. The other executive producers are Melissa Bernstein, Kevin de la Noy, Sara Hess, Alan Taylor, Loni Peristere and Vince Gerardis.
