How to refund your Fortnite account?

Having a problem with an unwanted Epic Games purchase? Looking for FTC refund information? We’ve got the details right here.

Update:
How to refund your Fortnite account?

Accidents happen, and in the vast majority of cases, there are ways to fix them. In the digital and online shopping world, development has progressed to fix any problems and Fortnite is not far behind. Although the Epic Games game initially had some problems related to this issue, everything seems to have a solution and today we’re going to address the matter of refunding your Fortnite account and how it relates to a lawsuit you had with the FTC a few months ago.

What happened with the Epic Games - FTC lawsuit refund?

In December 2022, the FTC (Federal Trade Commission) ruled that Epic Games would have to pay a $275 million fine as a result of a class action lawsuit due to “unwanted purchases” caused by players in the game.

This action focuses on three specific groups:

  • Parents whose children made an unauthorized credit card purchase in the Epic Games Store between January 2017 and November 2018
  • Fortnite players who were charged in-game currency (V-Bucks) for unwanted in-game items) between January 2017 and September 2022
  • Fortnite players whose accounts were locked between January 2017 and September 2022 after disputing unauthorized charges with their credit card companies.

This case occurred because Fortnite previously did not have a form of authentication before each purchase, allowing minors to make in-game purchases without the permission of their parents or guardians. This led to several changes, both in the way purchases were made (such as a hold-to-purchase button down to prevent accidental purchases) and in asking for more data about players, especially minors.

At this time, there is no start date for this refund, but those who believe they are affected can register at this link to receive more information regarding the case, while also bookmark this site and check back often.
