How to steal in Starfield and never get caught
A Starfield user demonstrates the depth of the game with an easier way to steal from locked containers without worrying about getting caught.
Starfield, as an RPG with impressive depth, continues to surprise us with its vast array of options just over a month after its release. While games of this genre highlight the ability to manipulate rules through various options, it’s always impressive that amidst these opportunities, there are aspects of the game that make certain tasks easier. In this case, we’re referring to the act of stealing.
Bethesda’s latest game has this side where, just like in real life, stealing is bad. And besides the moral dilemma, if you get caught, it will affect your reputation or put you in jail for some time. But with this technique, things can be different.
The secret to successful stealing in Starfield is avoiding detection
A helpful tip from Reddit user Sea-Charge-3132 illustrates a simpler approach to unlocking sealed containers in a short video featured on the Starfield subreddit. Why go through the trouble when someone else can assist you?
The key, as shown in the video below, is to develop the “Manipulation” skill, with which you can kindly ask an NPC to obey your orders for a limited time. The skill is activated by scanning the indicated person, and through the Social tab, you can use the Manipulation option to get them where you need them.
The way to activate this skill is either through the Internal Neuromap Device, which is one of the rewards for completing the Ryujin Faction quest line, or by upgrading the skill tree by spending 10 points in the Social branch.
Starfield is now available on Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, PC and Game Pass.
