Idris Elba dreams of working with Keanu Reeves on a live-action Cyberpunk 2077 movie
Two of the big stars in Cyberpunk 2077 reunited for Sonic 3, and now Idris Elba wants to work with Keanu Reeves on yet another game adaptation.
Idris Elba, known for his roles in ‘The Wire’ and ‘Prometheus’, wants to share the screen with Keanu Reeves in a film adaptation of Cyberpunk 2077. Following the promotional campaign for the premiere of Sonic 3, the British actor revealed in an interview with the media Screen Rant that would be delighted to collaborate with Keanu Reeves, the superstar of The Matrix and John Wick, to bring the incredible stories of Night City to the big screen.
“Oh wow, that’s a great question. I think that if any franchise could have a great live-action version, it would undoubtedly be Cyberpunk 2077. I think that putting Keanu Reeves’ character and my character together would be..., Wow! So let’s make it happen.”, declared an excited Idris Elba.
A Cyberpunk 2077 live-action movie is on the way
Keanu Reeves is one of the main pillars of the narrative of Cyberpunk 2077, the latest great video game developed by CD Projekt RED. In his role as Johnny Silverhand, the actor gave life to a charismatic character who had to collaborate with the player to save his life. For its part, Idris Elba played an individual named Solomon Reed in Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty, the game’s acclaimed expansion that was released in September 2023.
Last year, CD Projekt RED confirmed that it was already working on a live-action adaptation of the universe together with Anonymous Content, a company known for producing series like ‘Mr. Robot’ and ‘True Detective’. However, it was later announced that the project would not be ready until at least 2025. With this in mind, the possibility of Keanu Reeves and Idris Elba ending up joining the project does not seem remote at all.
