Apple

If you already have an iPhone 15, is the iPhone 16 worth it?

The Apple Intelligence revolution may be the key to the decision.

If you already have an iPhone 15, is the iPhone 16 worth it?

The new iPhone 16 is a reality, it will be launched next September 20 and technology-loving users ask themselves the most common question every year: is it worth it? A doubt that keeps many people who currently own the previous model (iPhone 15) awake at night and whose answer, as always, depends on several factors.

Apple Intelligence will not be available on day one

iOS 18 arrives next week, and despite the improvements it brings over previous systems, Apple Intelligence will not be included. Instead, it will be integrated starting with iOS 18.1 in October. This is the first release, and for logical reasons, it will reach its full potential months later (in iOS 18.2 at the end of the year and in iOS 18.4 in the spring of 2025). As its integration progresses, new features will be implemented, and to this, we must add a very important detail: United States will be the only country to enjoy Apple Intelligence in its initial version until December, so the only language available will be English.

In fact, it is still unclear when it will be launched in other countries, and speaking of an important overseas market like Europe, the negotiations following the various changes to the DMA (Digital Markets Act) between Apple and the European Commissioners seem to be going on for a long time. It is estimated that it will eventually arrive, but the launch date is unknown. The answer is clear: if your interest in an iPhone 16 is mainly based on Apple Intelligence, it all depends on your location.

Is the iPhone 16 worth it if you already have the iPhone 15?

First of all, it is clear that if you do not have it, the iPhone 16 is the most advanced terminal that you will be able to find from next September 20, so it seems a good idea to get it. But the million-dollar question is for those who bought the iPhone 15 a year ago: is it worth it to switch to the new model?

It all depends on how much you care about having the latest technology and the best technical features. Generally speaking, the Action Button and the powerful A18 chip, along with the largest battery ever seen in an Apple phone, seem like compelling reasons to take the plunge.

On the other hand, some experts say that users should skip the iPhone 16 and wait a few months for the new iPhone SE, which is rumored to arrive in 2025. This model is usually considered an entry model, but it is always the best new iPhone in terms of price-performance ratio. If all the rumors end up being true, we can expect an entry-level model with iPhone 15 Pro advantages.
