‘Immaculate’ opens soon in US movie theaters with hellish ticket prices

‘Immaculate’, the new Sidney Sweeney film, is doubling down on its aggressive satanic-style marketing to capitalize on its unholy themes.

Several days ago we told you that ‘Immaculate’, the new horror movie starring Sydney Sweeney about a nun who gets mysteriously pregnant in a secluded convent, skipped its Easter release date in several territories to avoid the wrath of the Catholic Church. Now we have news that this film by the director Michael Mohan continues its wildly provocative viral marketing campaign by offering tickets for the movie for $6,66 only on April 3 in select theaters.

‘Immaculate’ and the number of the beast: on April 3, tickets for the film cost $6.66 in the United States

‘Inmaculate’ continues to provoke through different marketing decisions taking into account the delicate theme of the film - a pregnant nun, establishing parallels with the Virgin Mary - evoking the nunsploitation genre of the 70s. While they began with the proud compilation of supposed comments from Christians offended by the content of the feature film, the new idea of those responsible is to lower the price of tickets to $6.66 on April 3, 2024, as reported by Collider.

This price effectively refers to 666, the “Number of the Beast” described in Revelations 13:18, commonly associated with Satan. This is a new way to continue with the guerrilla marketing of the film taking advantage of the blasphemous themes of its plot. Although this promotion is limited to the United States only.

What is ‘Immaculate’ about?

The film stars Sydney Sweeney (‘Madame Web’), Álvaro Morte (‘Money Heist’), Benedetta Porcaroli, Dora Romano, Giorgio Colangeli and Simona Tabasco.

‘Inmaculate’ tells us the story of Cecilia (Sweeney), a young nun who mysteriously becomes pregnant in a gloomy convent in the Italian countryside. Little by little she will reveal the terrifying secrets that the priests hide in this remote location.

Its first reviews are mixed; on Metacritic It has a 57 from critics and a 5.9 from the public, and on Rotten Tomatoes It has 72% of critics and 59% of the public at the time we write this news.

The setting and plot of ‘Inmaculate’ are a tribute to the nunsploitation genre, feature films whose peak took place in the 70s. They were mostly psychosexual dramas, sometimes with touches of horror, which had elements in common such as religion itself and starring Christian nuns in convents in remote locations. Some examples of these films would be ‘Los Demonios’ (1973), ‘Suor Emanuelle’ (1977), or ‘Suor Omicida’ (1978).
