In a surprise move, Marvel Studios has fired the creator of 'X-Men 97′ just before the show premieres on Disney+

The animated series, a sequel to the 1990s series, will premiere on the platform on March 20.

Nostalgia tastes a little bitter now. Beau DeMayo worked with Marvel Studios for the premiere of ‘X-Men 97′, the animated series that captivated thousands of children in the nineties. However, the creator and screenwriter did not arrive in time for the debut of his product on Disney+, and that he had already written the second season, was working on the next one and had already set his feet on the press conference for the premiere, scheduled for March 13. As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, all this has come to an abrupt end because Disney has fired him.

Earlier this week, Marvel Studios and DeMayo ended their working relationship. His company email was deactivated and the cast was informed that the creative was no longer part of the project. In addition, his personal Instagram account, which featured information about Marvel products, has been deleted. So why was he fired? That is a question that remains unanswered. Neither Marvel nor Beau DeMayo responded to emails forwarded by The Hollywood Reporter.

He won’t be at the press conference for ‘X-Men 97′

The whole situation becomes even more bizarre because ‘X-Men 97′ premieres on Disney+ next March 20th. Also, it is not normal for a showrunner and screenwriter to be absent from the press conference, even if he has been sidelined. Considering that the meeting with the media will take place in the next few hours, we may know something very soon, although it remains to be seen what will happen, since in this type of events, the questions are usually selected one by one by the professionals of Marvel Studios.

Beau DeMayo worked on Marvel Studios’ ‘Moon Knight’. He is also responsible for some of the scripts for ‘The Witcher’ and ‘The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf’ and the ‘Star Trek: Strange New Worlds’ series.
