‘Inside Out 2’ has surpassed ‘Frozen 2’ as the highest-grossing animated film in history
‘Inside Out 2′ only needed two weeks to beat ‘Frozen II’ at the box office, and now it has become the highest-grossing animated film ever.
Every new Pixar film is quite an event, and ‘Inside Out 2′ was not going to be any less, but it was difficult to predict the tremendous success that the sequel to the 2015 film was going to have. It has been so great that after a few weeks on the billboard it has managed to surpass ‘Frozen II’ to become the highest-grossing animated film in history.
‘Inside Out 2′ achieves record numbers
Having premiered on July 14, ‘Inside Out 2′ has managed to raise a whopping $1,463 million around the world, and counting, since it has only been on the billboard for two weeks. This serves to relegate ‘Frozen II’ to second place, which ended its run in movie theaters with a not inconsiderable $1,453 million.
It should be noted that, although it reached 1,663 million dollars at the box office, the remake of ‘The Lion King’ from 2019 is not considered an animated film, although that does not detract from such an astronomical figure. Meanwhile, the next Pixar films are ‘Elio’, which will arrive in June 2025, and ‘Toy Story 5′, whose premiere is scheduled for June 2026. It seems difficult for any of them to be able to reach the numbers of ‘Inside Out 2′, given that one is a new license and the other saw its fourth installment not long ago, in 2019 specifically.
Meanwhile, the arrival date of ‘Inside Out 2′ to Disney+ is still unknown, but it seems like there’s no rush taking into account the rate of collection in theaters at the moment.
