‘Invincible’ knows no bounds, adapting one of the comic’s most brutal arcs in its latest episode
The seventh episode of the third season of ‘Invincible’ reaches new heights of action and brutality, adapting one of the comic’s most iconic and brutal arcs.

The third season of ‘Invincible’ reaches its climax with a new episode that takes the action and violence to a new level. Prime Video’s popular animated series has fully adapted Invincible War, one of the most brutal arcs in Robert Kirkman’s comic book, into an episode that doesn’t give Mark and the rest of Earth’s Guardians a break. With a level of destruction that makes the destruction of Chicago at the hands of Omni-Man seem insignificant, the fate of the planet hangs in the balance as Mark Grayson faces the greatest threat of his life: himself. Or, more accurately, many other Invincibles from other dimensions.

Prime Video’s ‘Invincible’ adapts the Invincible War, and the devastation of the planet is near total
The third season of Invincible takes a brutal turn by adapting the comic book’s Invincible War arc, which spanned issues #60 to #65, in a new episode that tests the limits of the hero protagonist. In this arc, adapted in S3 E7 and titled “What Have I Done?”, the story begins with the startling revelation that Angstrom Levy is still alive. This villain, whom Mark thought he had killed at the end of the second season, survived by a thread of life and was able to recover thanks to his contingency plan to be healed in case he lost a battle with Invincible.
Driven by a deep desire for revenge and to inflict as much damage on Mark as possible, Levy embarks on a diabolical plan: traveling through various dimensions to recruit alternate versions of the Invincible, promising them power and glory in exchange for their help. Together, they plan to make the main Mark suffer, pushing him to his psychological and physical limits while unleashing a devastating war on Earth. The central idea is to tarnish Invincible’s name forever and make the inhabitants of the planet realize that it is their hero who is unleashing absolute chaos, just as his father, Omni-Man, did.

The numerous attacks by the Invincibles' army are as relentless as they are merciless, and the planet’s community of superheroes barely resists the successive assaults, suffering numerous casualties: some heroes are gruesomely killed, others are maimed or severely wounded, like Atom Eve, and a few, like Rex Splode, decide to sacrifice themselves to kill one of the evil Invincibles.
The world’s largest cities, including New York, Tokyo, Paris, and Moscow, become battlegrounds of near-total destruction. As one of the planet’s strongest defenders, Mark Grayson fights desperately to protect his own, but the task is overwhelming, even with the help of Oliver, his half-Viltrumite younger brother. As the alien invaders unleash their evil, many innocent people die. The scale of the tragedy is indescribable, with millions of casualties worldwide in the 72 hours of the conflict, leaving humanity on the brink of collapse.
Despite the gravity of the situation, the wounded and exhausted main Invincible finally manages to confront Angstrom Levy directly and stop his plans, but not without paying a terrible price: in an unexpected twist, Levy escapes once again, leaving Earth in ruins and Mark completely overwhelmed by events. Though the planet has been saved thanks to the combined action of Earth’s superheroes and their enormous sacrifices, the episode makes it abundantly clear that the worst is yet to come. As the search for survivors begins in the ruins, a new and terrifying enemy enters the scene: Conquest, a member of the dreaded Viltrumite Empire. Conquest arrives to give Mark an ultimatum: reclaim Earth on behalf of the Viltrumites, or die trying to defend it.

This final twist adds an extra layer of tension and emotion to an episode that was already brimming with both. Most shockingly, Mark has had virtually no time to recover physically or emotionally from the global catastrophe unleashed by his other selves; having pushed himself to the limit during the Invincible War, he now faces another monumental challenge.
