‘It: Welcome to Derry’ still has plenty of terror in store: the hit HBO series is set to run for several seasons
Director Andy Muschietti reveals that they always had a clear idea of how long this prequel focusing on the origins of Pennywise would last.

Many were skeptical about the project, but ‘It: Welcome to Derry’ has not only established itself as a critical and audience success, but it is also one of the best premieres in HBO Max history. This prequel to the two ‘It’ movies and Stephen King’s legendary book explores the origins of Pennywise the clown, and its final episode recently premiered worldwide. However, this will not be the end, as its creators will be back with more episodes.
According to an exclusive interview with Cine Pop, the series’ director and screenwriter, Andy Muschietti, has revealed that the story of ‘It: Welcome to Derry’ was always intended to be told over three seasons. “Season one is just the first of the three steps that make up this story, So, there are more more story to cover,” he said. At the moment, HBO has not officially announced the production of season 2, but considering Muschietti’s words and the series’ great success, everything points to it being confirmed sooner rather than later.
