It will take some time before we see Xbox Game Pass on other platforms
Xbox’s broadcast focused on its future business model, touching on the importance of Xbox Game Pass and its 34 million subscribers.
While the podcast about Xbox’s new business model didn’t deliver as much as we expected, there were interesting details about one of the company’s most important services, Xbox Game Pass. During the podcast, Matt Booty, Corporate Vice President of Microsoft Studios, made it clear that the Xbox subscription service will remain an exclusive and key part of the company’s ecosystem:
“I think we at first party can come back to sort of some core principles. First, that all of our games will be on the Xbox platform. Second, all of our games will go into game pass on day one; and Third, we know that game pass will only be available on Xbox,” commented Booty. " So there’s sort of starting points for us as Phil mentioned. There are games today you can play that only can be found on Xbox, and at the same time, we want to bring more of our games to more players. So we’re going to continue to look at that.”
Other important details about the service were revealed during the podcast, including the arrival of Activision Blizzard titles on Xbox Game Pass, starting with Diablo IV. It was also revealed that the service currently has 34 million members.
