Update:

The search for the next James Bond is one of the biggest soap operas in Hollywood right now. Although popular names like Tom Holland and Taron Egerton were initially mentioned, they were quickly ruled out, leaving the race for the role down to just two names in recent months. There was no guarantee that new names wouldn’t emerge, but Jacob Elordi and Callum Turner seemed to be the top favorites. Now, all signs point to Amazon MGM Studios having already spoken with the former, with the Australian actor of Basque descent currently being the favorite.

According to industry rumors, Elordi has reportedly already met with Denis Villeneuve (‘Dune’), who is set to direct the next James Bond film. If he is ultimately chosen, Elordi would have the honor of becoming the youngest James Bond in history (at 28 years old), as well as the tallest, thanks to his impressive height of 6’5”.

Although his career had already begun, Elordi gained particular popularity after making his debut in ‘Euphoria’ in 2019, alongside co-stars such as Zendaya and Sydney Sweeney. The series’ third season is currently airing on HBO, and the actor continues to be part of the cast. Elordi has also appeared in films such as ‘Wuthering Heights,’ ‘Saltburn,’ and especially ‘Frankenstein,’ Guillermo del Toro’s Oscar-nominated Best Picture, in which he plays the monster thanks to endless makeup sessions.

Although fans suggested names like Henry Cavill, Idris Elba, or Tom Hardy, the reality is that only the first one came even close to becoming James Bond. Things actually took a different turn, and it was actors like Holland and Egerton—who were mentioned earlier—who practically ruled themselves out. One of the first realistic names to surface was Aaron Taylor-Johnson (’28 Years Later’), with Harris Dickinson (’The Iron Clan’) joining the list later. After much speculation, it appears that the two candidates Amazon is ultimately considering are Turner (’Masters of the Air’) and, of course, Elordi himself.
