James Gunn reveals the Hall of Justice mural honoring the “history of Metahumans” in ‘Superman’
A very special selection of superheroes and metahumans.

The reboot of the DC universe in cinema, led by James Gunn and Peter Safran, does not seek to start the story of superheroes from scratch. From the beginning of Superman, it is established that metahumans have existed in that world for many years, and that neither The Man of Steel nor the rest of the Justice Gang are the first to surprise humanity.
This is reflected in a mural located inside the Hall of Justice. Although it appears briefly in the film, this mural offers a glimpse of several of these characters, which has given rise to multiple theories among fans about who they might be. Fortunately, James Gunn has finally released the complete illustration of the mural that pays tribute to the history of metahumans.

James Gunn does not list all 26 characters that appear in this mural, but we can find familiar faces from more recent times, characters from the distant past of the Justice Society of America, and characters that only the most die-hard fans of comic book history will recognize. Along with this, fan theories about whether Jay Garrick and Doctor Fate were characters in this mural have been put to rest. For simplicity, you can see the two parts of the mural below:
