James Gunn reveals whether ‘Man of Tomorrow’ will unveil the great mystery of ‘Peacemaker’
The future of Peacemaker will be revealed in other DCU series or movies.

Before the end of ‘Peacemaker,’ James Gunn had already hinted that it would be decisive for the future of the DCU. However, once they had seen it, fans were left with far more questions than answers, which it seems will be answered in productions starring other characters. Gunn has practically ruled out a third season of the series starring John Cena, so we will have to wait for future productions. Will ‘Man of Tomorrow’ be one of them?
Next, we will discuss the ending of Peacemaker with spoilers.

Will Man of Tomorrow resolve what happens with Peacemaker?
In the last episode of the second season of Peacemaker, titled “A Big Deal,” we see how Rick Flag Sr. finds Salvation, a planet perfect for keeping metahumans confined. He has no doubts about the first victim he sends there: Chris Smith himself, his son’s killer. So we end up with Peacemaker on Salvation, a planet that seems like paradise but is full of dangers. What will happen to him now that it’s almost certain there won’t be a third season? Will we discover his fate in ‘Man of Tomorrow’?
“No, no, no. But people should expect that the way that the military and Rick Flag and everybody are working together and they’ve created a probably illegal prison for metahumans on another dimension is gonna be a part of DCU stories going forward,” said the director and head of DC Studios to Rolling Stone. And not just a tertiary, ‘Oh, this is Arkham’ — it’s a part of the stories. There’s an escalating war, obviously, that’s going on between the government and metahumans. And this is a part of it."

Even so, we shouldn’t rule out Peacemaker making an appearance in Man of Tomorrow, just as he does in the original film. Furthermore, Gunn has reiterated that he is a very important character for him, and it’s no surprise that, although he wasn’t hugely popular before the series and The Suicide Squad were released, he certainly has been since the launch of this DCU. Clearly, John Cena’s performance has done a lot to help his cause...
In the meantime, we will have to wait until July 9, 2027, to enjoy the premiere of Man of Tomorrow, which will round off a fantastic year for DC Studios, as The Batman II will also be released. However, as we know, Matt Reeves’ Batverse is not canon in Gunn’s DCU, although Gunn is delighted with what Reeves and Robert Pattinson are doing.
