MCU

James Gunn wrote one of the core elements of the MCU in just an hour and a half

The director of the Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy confirms that the definitive lore of the Infinity Stones was written in a very short time.

James Gunn evento Gemas del Infinito hora y media

The Infinity Gems headache in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is well behind us. However, their impact on the overall narrative arc resulted from a very small creative moment. James Gunn, director of the Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy, has stated that it took him only “an hour and a half” to plan the event that Marvel Studios would later take over for the rest of the plot.

“I wrote that scene in about an hour and a half, it just like came up with what the Infinity Stones were... and everything’s [the entire MCU’s] based on that... They were like, ‘You know, we’re thinking about putting the Power Stone in.’ I was like, ‘That’s cool. The Power Stone. The Collector has the Power Stone....’ And I just made up this bullsh*t!”

The statements are part of an interview given by Gunn and the cast of Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3 to Phase Zero, which you can see below this paragraph. That little bit of time for Gunn was what defined a good part of Marvel’s big screen phases, which is now immersed in the fourth.

Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3, the conclusion of an unbeatable trilogy

The conclusion of Gunn’s work in the MCU has left us satisfied. In the review of Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3 by our colleagues from Spain, we said that the famous director “says goodbye to Marvel by the big door”. “This is one of Marvel’s most emotional films and, with the permission of Spider-Man: No Way Home, the best the brand has signed since the final bow of The Avengers. We have no problem affirming that it concludes our favorite trilogy of the MCU. No need for crossovers, metaverses and other complications. A superhero adventure of the past,” they said.
