James McAvoy shares his 4 favorite movies in the history of cinema

The star of ‘Speak No Evil’ revealed what his favorite movies of all time are, which include some classics and a few you might not know of.

James McAvoy is one of the most valued actors in recent years. After the huge success that was ‘Split’, the M. Night Shyamalan movie in which he played a man with multiple personalities, starring alongside Anya Taylor-Joy, The british actor enrolled in ‘Speak No Evil’, the remake of the Danish film of the same name directed by James Watkins. McAvoy spoke with Letterboxd recently and he chose his 4 favorite films in the entire history of cinema. Take a look:

‘Alien’ (1979)

The movie that changed the scenery of science fiction and horror is James McAvoy’s favorite. ‘Alien’, directed by Ridley Scott, narrates the interference of an extraterrestrial being aboard a spaceship. The tape became Sigourney Weaver in an icon of science fiction cinema and gave rise to the long series of movies that just delivered a new entry this same year with ‘Alien: Romulus’.

‘The Goonies’ (1985)

‘The Goonies’ has become over the years one of the great cult films of the 80s. Directed by Richard Donner (‘Superman’) and produced by, among others, Steven Spielberg, the film tells the adventures of a group of friends in search of a lost treasure. A gem that must be seen at least once in a lifetime.

‘My Name is Joe’ (1998)

The film tells the love story between a recovering alcoholic and a social worker who helps him quit. The title of the film refers to the presentation of those attending Alcoholics Anonymous meetings. The filming featured extras who had criminal records and real drug problems.

Brief Encounter (1945)

Brief Encounter’ narrates the short love story between a doctor and a respectable married woman at a train station. The film is considered one of the best of the 1940s and David Lean’s best after ‘Lawrence of Arabia’. The film was nominated for the Palme d’Or at the Cannes Festival and the Oscar for best film.
