Jeremy Renner says he’s “sure” Hawkeye Season 2 will happen, despite earlier pay dispute

After initially turning down a second season of 'Hawkeye’ due to a pay cut following his near-fatal snowplow accident in 2023, Jeremy Renner now says he’s fully on board for more Marvel action. In a new interview with Empire Magazine, Renner revealed:

“I’m sure we’ll end up doing Season 2, and do other things. And I’m happy to do it. My body’s getting ready for something like that. I don’t know if anybody wants to see me in tights, but my body will look good in the tights”.

What changed?

Back in May, Renner told the 'High Performance’ podcast that he had rejected Marvel’s offer for Season 2 because they proposed half his original salary, allegedly due to his accident:

“I’m like, ‘I’m sorry? Why? Did you think I’m only half the Jeremy because I got ran over?’”.

Despite the frustration, Renner emphasized that he still loves the character and would return under fair terms. Now, with his recovery in full swing, he says he’s 150% stronger than before and ready to leap back into action.

What’s next for Hawkeye?

While Marvel Studios hasn’t officially announced 'Hawkeye’ Season 2, Renner’s comments suggest that internal discussions are underway. The first season, which premiered in November 2021, starred Renner alongside Hailee Steinfeld as Kate Bishop and received strong reviews for its holiday-themed tone and character development.
