Jill Jacobson, one of the most acclaimed actresses of the 1980s, has died at the age of 70. This was announced by her friend and agent Dan Harary, after a long illness that finally ended her life at Culver West Hospital in California.

“Beautiful, energetic and positive to the end, she will be deeply missed by numerous relatives, friends and her beloved dogs, Benny and Kowalski,” Harary said in the statement, published by The Hollywood Reporter. “Jill’s comic timing was brilliant and her enthusiasm and love of life made our time together on set joyful,” said Caryn Richman, who was Jacobson’s former co-star on ‘The New Gidget’.

A career linked to television

Jacobson was most famous in the mid-80’s when she played Erin Jones in 22 episodes of one of the drama series of the time called ‘Falcon Crest’. Shortly after, in 1986, she played Larue Wilson in the aforementioned series ‘The New Gidget’, a series about a young surfer that would be a direct continuation of a classic series from the 60s.

However, science fiction fans, especially Trekkies, will remember her for playing Vanessa in ‘Star Trek: The Next Generation’, released in 1989. Surprisingly, seven years later she would return to the saga to participate in ‘Star Trek: Deep Space’, a series that would last seven seasons and where she would play a different character, Aroya.

Jacobson also appeared in numerous movies such as ‘Bad Georgia Road’, ‘Forbidden Love’, ‘Baby Sister’ or ‘Splash’. Although her presence has not yet been confirmed, since it is unknown if her work in the film has ended, the actress also participated in ‘Merrily’, starring Paul Mescal (‘Gladiator 2′), which should be released in the middle of next year 2025.
