John Wick director drops new details about his version of Highlander starring Henry Cavill

Chad Strahelski confirms that the new Highlander will be a prequel to the original.

Update:
Los Inmortales

Highlander is one of the great fantasy films of the 80′s, and with a cast that included Christopher Lambert, Sean Connery and Clancy Brown, it won millions of fans around the world. Millions of fans who now remain attentive to the new movie, of which its director, Chad Strahelski (John Wick) has revealed new details.

Who is working on the new installment of Highlander?

Strahelski has been joined by a renowned actor who has been on everyone’s lips in recent years, Henry Cavill, who is now more relaxed with his work after leaving The Witcher series, the director revealed in an interview with the Happy Sad Confused podcast. The British actor is undoubtedly a great attraction for the film, especially for younger potential viewers who are not familiar with the saga, having also confessed to being “a big fan” of the film.

But Strahelski also left more details and revealed what this new installment of Highlander will be about. As he explained, it will not be a remake of the original movie, but a prequel to the adventures of Connor MacLeod, and in which he will also “correct a flaw” of that movie, according to which Connor himself was the only survivor.

“I think we have some very good elements now,” Strahelski said. “The trick is when you have the tagline, ‘There can only be one,’ you can’t just kill everybody the first time. Our story engages a lot of the same characters, but we’ve also brought in elements of all the TV shows.

Likewise, Strahelski says he has ideas for creating a more inclusive movie. “You can pick any period of time, any nationality, any culture, any type of person and make them an immortal that have to duel and deal with the burden of immortality — that’s fucking cool.”

Apparently, there is still no estimated release date for this project, which has been in the works for almost ten years. In addition, the Hollywood actors’ and screenwriters’ strike may have disrupted the original plans.
