‘John Wick’ is getting a prequel series with Keanu Reeves, expanding the origins of the assassin

The mythical John Wick is making the jump to anime with a prequel series that’ll reveal the assassin’s origins and his initial escape from the underworld.

Fans of John Wick are in luck because there is a new prequel series about the figure of the legendary and enigmatic assassin played by Keanu Reeves on the way. Of course, in an interesting twist for the franchise, it is not going to be live action, but instead an anime.

The Hollywood Reporter revealed that, as part of the celebration of ten years of the ‘John Wick’ franchise that debuted in 2014, A new anime series has been announced, still untitled and without a release date. This information comes from Chad Stahelski, director of the films starring Keanu Reeves and considered the person most responsible for the saga.

This prequel anime will show one of the key moments in John Wick’s development as a character: the “impossible task” he had to complete for Viggo Tarasov, played by Michael Nyqvist in the first film. Wick worked for Tarasov, the head of a Russian crime syndicate, and asked him to retire because he fell in love with Helen, who would eventually become his wife. As a condition of accepting his “retirement,” Viggo gave him an “impossible assignment” that, against all odds, John completed, allowing him to obtain his freedom and leave the criminal underworld to live in peace for a few years with his wife. In the movies, The details about this “impossible task” were deliberately ambiguous. The anime promises to answer many questions.

No further details have been released about the cast of voice actors., although it is expected that, given his connection to the saga, Keanu Reeves will return to voice John Wick in the English version. It is also unknown if other secondary characters will appear. from the movies, both enemies and allies of Wick.
