‘Joker: Folie a Deux’ pays homage to previous versions of the character through the stars’ outfits

‘Joker: Folie a Deux’ is about to bring its madness to theaters on October 4, and now we know that there are a few small tributes to Jokers past.

The previous installment of ‘Joker’ hit the big screen in August 2019 and managed to achieve great success around the entire planet. It swept the box office, collecting over $90 million in North America and reaching, a few months after its release, total earnings of over $1 billion worldwide. Directed by Todd Phillips and starring Joaquín Phoenix, this film about Batman’s archenemy, the Clown Prince of Crime, won two Oscars and became the first superhero film capable of winning the Golden Lion at the Venice Film Festival.

More than 5 years later, the character of Arthur Fleck returns to the big screen with ‘Joker: Folie a Deux’ starring Joaquín Phoenix who this time around will be accompanied by Harley Quinn, his paramour/partner in crime who will come to life thanks to the new addition of Lady Gaga to the cast. They both meet in Arkham Asylum and fall into a twisted version of love and dependency that throughout the film will evolve into a carnival of emotions: passion, hatred, revenge...

The tribute in ‘Folie a Deux’ to other Jokers through their suits

It doesn’t always happen but it is quite common for movie trailers to reveal some clue to us and in the preview of ‘Joker: Folie à Deux’ there is a reference in Arthur Fleck’s suits that we couldn’t leave behind. Of course, the emblematic red suit that the protagonist also used in the first installment is back, but in one of the scenes in the trailer the Joker appears in a white suit very similar to the one he wears in the comic series and the movie ‘The Dark Knight Returns’.
