Jude Law reveals what he thinks is the worst role of his career, for which he was “paid too much”
Oscar-nominated actor Jude Law has a very long and successful career, but he does have some decisions that he regrets.
Jude Law, known for his roles in ‘A.I. Artificial intelligence’, ‘Sherlock Holmes’ and ‘Fantastic Beasts’, among many others, has put himself in the shoes of a mysterious pirate in ‘Star Wars: Skeleton Crew’, the new original Lucasfilm series of the Star Wars universe. The British actor has participated in countless productions throughout his already extensive career, but he considers one of his characters too cheesy, so much so that he believes it was a bad decision to play him. This was revealed in an interview with GQ, where the two-time Oscar nominee was asked which film he was least proud of.
Law acknowledged that he was “probably” paid too much, but he is still not happy with the result. “I was in a position of strength because I had been nominated [for another Oscar] for ‘Cold Mountain’. And for Alfie to be the film I chose to do quite soon after that, I think was a bad move”, he explained. “I just felt it hadn’t elevated [the material] and felt a little light, a little too cheesy. I think it was made for too much money, and I was probably paid too much money, which I underestimated at the time. I kicked myself that I’d done something that was leaning into the heartthrob and the charismatic lead and it hadn’t worked.”

The interpreter has acknowledged that the character probably eroded his confidence: “It also made me aware that, when you are fresh out of the gate, everyone is intrigued and everyone wants a piece of you. And then as soon as you have a couple of misfires, their attention goes elsewhere. And so there’s a part of you also thinking, Oh, OK, how do I get that attention back?”
In ‘Star Wars: SkeletonCrew’, Law accompanies a group of children lost through the galaxy. On At Attin, the planet where the kids were born, everyone thinks they live in the time of the Old Republic, so the system keeps an intriguing mystery.
