Studio Chaf

Just days after launching on Early Access, this game is being removed from Steam

Studio Chaf announces the closure of Velev one week before its launch on Steam Early Access.

Update:

Less than a week after its launch, Studio Chaf has announced the closure of its debut game, Velev, which launched on Steam Early Access on April 9th. Velev is a game that mixes elements of the PvP MoBA arena action with PvE gameplay, where players enter a “hidden world where technology and nature merge.”

When the dream is not fulfilled

Via a statement on its Steam page, Studio Chaf explained the situation of the game and the decision behind its closure: “As some of you may have already noticed, we were not able to reach the point we needed to continue supporting and maintaining Velev,” the development team said. “Despite our best efforts, we couldn’t secure the investment we needed from VCs or larger partners. With limited options, we made the decision to launch in Early Access, hoping for the best.”

The development team understands that the launch of the game, although in Early Access, was premature, especially being paid, although at the time “it was the only way we had at the time.” Now the game will move to a free-to-play model, where it will be fully refunded. Eventually, the servers will be shut down, although they do not have a definite date as to when this will happen.

However, for those who are curious and want to play the title before it disappears completely, its Steam page only reads, “Velev is no longer available on the Steam store.”
