‘Kagurabachi,’ the next anime phenomenon following ‘Kimetsu no Yaiba’ and ‘Jujutsu Kaisen,’ unveils its trailer and release date
A work inspired by ‘John Wick,’ telling a story of revenge.

It’s official: ‘Kagurabachi’ is getting an anime adaptation, as confirmed by a spectacular first trailer that showcases the immense potential of Takeru Hokazono’s work. When will it premiere? We’ll have to wait until April 2027 to enjoy the animated adaptation, based on a manga inspired by ‘John Wick’ that weaves a tale of revenge that has captivated Weekly Shonen Jump readers since its debut in September 2023.
‘Kagurabachi’ will be part of the spring 2027 anime season. The studio handling the animation is Cypic (formerly known as CygamesPictures), known for its work on ‘The Summer Hikaru Died,’ among other projects. Tetsuya Takeuchi will direct the anime, with Keigo Sasaki serving as character designer. Additionally, it has been confirmed that Taihi Kimura will voice Chihiro Rokuhira, the story’s protagonist.
One of the most anticipated anime adaptations in recent years
The rumors of the past few weeks have finally been confirmed: ‘Kagurabachi’ officially announced its adaptation during Shueisha’s Jump Press event. It’s a story packed with action, violence, and sword fights, with all the ingredients needed to replicate the success of recent phenomena like ‘Kimetsu no Yaiba,’ ‘Jujutsu Kaisen,’ ‘Chainsaw Man,’ and ‘Solo Leveling.’
Tetsuya Takeuchi, the series director, had this to say about the project: “Who would’ve thought that I’d be directing a popular Shonen Jump anime after working as a key animator on ‘Naruto’ back when I was just a newbie... you really never know what life has in store. When you think of Kagurabachi, you think of katana! And more katana! Plus cool characters and intense drama! I’ll work hard to capture all those elements and aim to make a show that both long-time fans of the manga and first-time viewers alike can enjoy!”
