Update:

Former Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy has spoken out about one of the most widespread theories among Star Wars fans ahead of the release of ‘The Mandalorian and Grogu,’ the franchise’s next film. During an interview with Variety, the producer made it very clear that Grogu will not speak at any point in the film, putting an end to the hopes and dreams of thousands of viewers.

For years, the community had been speculating about the possibility that the adorable creature popularly known as “Baby Yoda” would end up uttering his first words in a potential future season of ‘The Mandalorian’ or in this sequel film. However, Kennedy denied this, explaining that silence is an essential part of this character’s identity. “Another perfect example of a character that has to emote and you have to feel connected to, and he never speaks a word,” she said. Therefore, little Grogu will continue to communicate solely through gestures and emotions, connecting with the audience in a similar way to how he does in the original Disney+ series.

Kathleen Kennedy’s latest success?

Earlier this year, Dave Filoni and Lynwen Brennan became the new co-presidents of Lucasfilm, making ‘The Mandalorian and Grogu’ Kathleen Kennedy’s last major project. The producer was the main driving force behind this film and is convinced that it will be a resounding success in theaters around the world. Its release is set for May 21, so it looks set to be one of the biggest releases of the first half of 2026.
