Keanu Reeves’ ‘Constantine 2’ now has a completed script, which its producer is “too scared” to read
Fans of Keanu Reeves’ Constantine get a new glimpse of hope, as the script for the sequel has reportedly been finished.
‘Constantine 2′ will see the return of Keanu Reeves to one of his most celebrated roles of the 2000s, a favorite of the actor even above Neo in ‘The Matrix’: John Constantine. This DC superhero/antihero will star again in a new story that could very well be part of the new DCU, as it’s being produced by one of the main DC Studios executives, who has declared himself unable to read the entire script because he’s scared of it.
The script for ‘Constantine 2′ is now completed
‘Constantine 2′ with Keanu Reeves is becoming a reality, and one of its producers has revealed to ComicBook that the script for it is already finished. However, he also says that he’s “too scared” to read it. Lorenzo di Bonaventura, a producer of the new DC Studios film, revealed: “You know it’s in my inbox right now. Funny enough, I’m too scared to read it, though. I want it to be good so bad. I probably read it in the next few days. When I get on an airplane”.
Certainly, bringing back a character such as Constantine in an entirely new era, and perhaps connecting him to the rest of a larger comic-book universe can’t be an easy thing to do, so we can understand the hesitation. Should this script get the green light, Francis Lawrence would be set to return as director once again, so the film is expected to retain the dark, violent tone of the original.
Although there was interest in creating a sequel since 2011, it was not until 2022 that it was confirmed that Warner Bros. was interested in developing this second part. For now, there are no more details about the start of filming, it is only known that the script is finished and production is expected to begin soon. In addition to Lawrence, two key actors from the original film return: Keanu Reeves as John Constantine and Peter Stormare as Lucifer.
