Keanu Reeves wants to be the perfect Shadow in ‘Sonic 3’, so he prepared for the character
‘Sonic the Hedgehog 3′ is releasing this December, and as the newest member of the cast, Keanu Reeves wants to give fans the perfect version of Shadow.
The announcement of Keanu Reeves as the voice actor for Shadow the Hedgehog in ‘Sonic the Hedgehog 3′ took many by surprise. Aside from the unusual nature of the role for someone so deeply associated with roles like Neo in ‘The Matrix’ and John Wick, it has recently emerged that the professionalism of the interpreter will also shine with its own light in this upcoming movie based on Sega video games. Reeves has been preparing for the role thoroughly, researching Shadow the Hedgehog and his lore in the franchise.

GamesRadar revealed that according to Jeff Fowler, the director of ‘Sonic 3′, Keanu Reeves has been “doing his homework” at the time to prepare for playing Shadow, as he’s giving his voice to the character in the the feature film.
According to Fowler, “It’s so awesome that we got Keanu Reeves to voice the character and he was so fantastic to work with. He thinks the character is awesome and he definitely understood what we were going for and he was very excited to do his version of it. Like all the cast, [he] really wants to get it right and really cares.”
“He would give us so many different versions of line readings and just want to keep going. It was not sort of showing up and reading the script into a microphone. He really wanted to create a very fan faithful version of the character. He did research. In our first meeting, he very clearly had gone and done his homework, which was awesome. I can’t say enough wonderful things about Keanu and what he brought to the character and the experience of making this movie. I think people are going to really, really love his version of Shadow,” said the director.
Reeves will be joined in the field of voice actors by Ben Schwartz as Sonic, Colleen O’Shaugnessey as Tails, and Idris Elba as Knuckles. On the live-action side of the movie, James Marsden and Jim Carrey will reprise their roles as Tom Wachowski and Dr. Robotnik, respectively. ‘Sonic the Hedgehog 3′ will be released on December 20, 2024.
